Dr. Yuen has a special interest in managing diseases such as glaucoma, keratoconus, macular degeneration and dry eye disease. He also provides low vision, myopia control and specialty contact lens services. He helped establish the national guideline for low vision care, which was recently published in the Canadian Journal of Optometry (CJO). Recently, Dr. Yuen was invited on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) task force to help redesign the American licensing examination with a team of experts across North America.

Dr. Abraham Yuen graduated from the University of Waterloo where he received his Doctor of Optometry with Dean’s Honours. He also received his Bachelor of Honours Science.

Dr Yuen believes in giving back to the city he grew up in by volunteering in inner city outreach such as Homeless Connect Toronto, Out of the Cold and the Special Olympics. In his spare time, Dr Yuen enjoys giving patient education seminars in libraries, nursing homes, community centres, and church groups.

Outside of clinic life, he is an avid Toronto sports fan, and enjoys hiking and photography in his spare time.

In addition to family primary eye care, Dr. Jiney Caines’ clinical experience includes specialty contact lens fittings, post-cataract surgery care, and dry eye disease management. During her studies, she participated in many volunteer and community outreach programs, including vision screenings at NYC public schools, Special Olympics, as well as a mission trip to Haiti.

Outside of work, Dr. Caines enjoys Pilates, cooking, travelling and new culinary adventures.

Dr. Caines received her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and completed her Doctor of Optometry at the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City.

Dr. Alexa Hecht joined the Richmond University Vision Care team after receiving her Doctor of Optometry with Distinction from the University of Waterloo. During her time at Waterloo, Dr. Hecht completed an externship in ocular disease at Niagara Vision and had the opportunity to work alongside ophthalmologists specializing in the treatment and management of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataracts.

Dr. Hecht travelled to Lviv, Ukraine, in 2019 for an Optometry Mission through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). During this trip she performed eye exams for orphaned children attending summer camp through Help Us Help The Children.

Dr. Hecht has clinical interests in dry eye disease, specialty contact lenses and myopia control. She looks forward to providing excellent patient care and educating the eye care community through social media. When not examining eyes, Dr. Hecht enjoys travelling, trying out new workout classes, cooking healthy recipes, and spending time with friends and family.
